I was hoping that I could
I was hoping that I could find people in former graduation years on this forum, are there any people directories attached here? Obviously I am a fresh member here, I am very confident that I'll be able to meet with former colleagues, I am really excited by the idea.
I will forward this article
I will forward this article to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing! high school | online high school | distance learning school | homeschool | cheap education
Alumni
Thanks for providing a platform for catching up old friends. We are preparing for our annual High School Reunion. Think your platform will appear as helpful to spread the invitation in an effective way. Thanks.
Catching up
Hey I'm looking for Jared Hauschen! Do you remember me? We made a skateboard blog together! ( http://skateboardlazar.blogspot.com ) If you find this, e-mail me.
Your Friend,
Lazar
Hey Laz
Hey Laz how's life? Long time no see. I've been writing online stories for children just like I used to talk about. Visit the blog I post at, you can contact me there, too. Hope you are doing well!
Fallopia: The 26 on 6th Project
Fallopia is a website recently lauched by a group of alumni in the Los Area. Fallopia.net hopes to serve as a forum for ideas and inspiration on local issues, artists, and perspectives. We feature collaborative work on public issues, original podcasts, fresh poetry, book reviews, photography, music, and creative non-fiction from Johnston alumns and friends.
We would like to invite the fabulous alumni of the Johnston Center to contribute to our project by contributing time, comments, and material to the site. Please feel to check out the site and contact us if you would like to get involved.

Angie Jellife
Angie Jellife died of cancer on April 15 at 2:30pm Houston time. The memorial is to be on May 3, Sunday, at the Redlands First Baptist church, no time set as of this morning. Angie (and her loving, caregiving sister Cyn) were both in the original Johnston class, Cyn leaving Redlands high school a year early to "come over." Their mother, Prof. Rebecca Rio-Jelliffe, was a stalwart of our English department for many years. We do not have the exact date of Angie's appointment in the Music School, but we will post it here when we do. Angie Jelliffe, who was born in the Philippines but grew up in Southern California, is a graduate of Redlands High School and attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music during her first year of college. Later, she returned to Redlands to become a member of the first class at the Johston Center at the University of Redlands. Her professors there inclued Louanne Long and Barney Childs. Jelliffe graduated with her bachelor's degree in music in 1972 and went on to receive her master's degree in composition from Cal State Los Angeles in 1988. While there she studied under Byong-kon Kim before moving to UCLA, where she received her doctorate in composition under the guidance of professors including Elaine Barkin, Roger Bourland, William Kraft and Ian Krouse. Jelliffe began teaching part time at UR in 1995 where she taught theory, composition, and world music. She served for many years as the liaison between Johnston and the School of Music. Her many works include compositions for orchestra, chamber ensembles, chorus and piano solo.
thank you
Angie: Thank you. I only knew you through African Drumming last year but your presence and humor made the group more enjoyable. I thought of you every friday this year when we practiced and you will be missed. Thank you for everything you gave each of us by being you.
Reunion
I'm not sure I can make it to the reunion but we'll see. Life gets a tad more complicated when you get older as I juggle work, renovating a house and two teenage boys. I would love to see many of you and catch up on life after JC and to compare gray hair. Feel free to email me if you are so inclined.
I am very sad that Keith Jordan is no longer with us. I remember his wry wit and great smile fondly. I appreciate the various posts and pictures that Betty, Kim and others have uploaded. Thanks for taking the time to honor his memory. Hope you all are well. -- rachel
Renewal
Rachel, we missed you! The renewal was, as expected, a fabulous time reconnecting with special people.
Renewal
Thanks Tomas! I missed you all too. I hope to hear more about the reunion either here or in some other post. Send photos! -- rach
Obstreperous Balderdash
Just a heads up. Butterfield is wrangling furiously and the 1987 crowd along with its usual hangers-on (and yours truly) could potentially show up in alarming numbers. Shields up Sulu!

Nikola Tesla (1857 - 1943)
From Michael Blair
It was inspiring to read how Lyle has paid tribute to the people who first brought him into the JC family. Lyle was a key factor in my own growth during that special time at Johnston. So I would like to mark my contribution to the Director's Discretionary Fund as a tribute to my advisor, the great composer/poet Dr. Barney Childs, and also to Lyle himself. Cheers.
Ashley Thompson ('08) Reports from Chicago on Election Night
It was like a dream. Running down Michigan avenue, slapping hands and fists with strangers as the roar grew louder and more joyous. People crying, hugging one another, and beaming smiles across oceans of people. It was as if something had finally come to pass that was right, as if we could finally win as a united people. A dead American dream raised from the ashes to soar above in the collective imaginations of a renewed impassioned country. Young and old, wealthy and poor, all breaking racial barriers and sighing a cathartic breath amidst the crowds in that park. Obama's voice echoed across speakers, resonating wildly through the masses, bouncing off thousand of bodies and cycling through the air. Words gripping tenaciously to the trees, yes we can.

WE MISS YOU! With the 40th Johnston Anniversary and Renewal coming up we want to make sure EVERYONE gets invited. Unfortunately we’ve lost contact with the following alums. If you know someone on the list (or you are on it yourself!) please send updated contact information to Jo Jones at jo_jones@redlands.edu. See you at the Renewal – February 13-15, 2009!

Lost Alumni
Around 1994, when I was living and working in San Francisco, I looked up a few fellow alums from the first year (1969-70), and actually had a phone conversation with Nancy Green. At the time, I believe she was living and working in the San Jose area, and I think I had gotten her contact information from Redlands or Johnston alumni association.
In 1996, I had a brief phone conversation with Matt Stuart. I had moved to Newport Beach and I understood that he was a management consultant in the Irvine or San Juan Capistrano area. I recall that Nancy and Tobey Green were alums of Verde Valley School in Arizona, so you might be able to get other contact information there.
I mention these because you have Matt, Tobey and Nancy listed as "missing." I am in North Carolina, now, so other than an Internet search I probably am not very useful in finding folks.
Coming to the 40th Renewal?
I just had a query from an alum who wanted to know who was coming to the Renewal on February 13-15, 2009. I thought others might want to know the same thing, so here is a discussion thread that addresses that question. If you plan on coming, you could post a response and let people know. It may help bring more people to the Renewal, and you will know to look for your friends and classmates. Thanks.
Whoo reunion!
Hey Greg, I'm coming!! I'm about to start looking at tickets and would love to have more information. WHat time does it begin and end exactly? Other info? I'm so excited! I'm not sure how to use this thing yet, I just got an account and started a thread in some other alum group...haha oops. Anyway, looking forward to the reunion! Peace.
Roll Call
Sign me up.
Original JCers Wanted!
So here I am considering a cross-country jaunt from North Carolina in Feb. '09 for the "renewal", and wondering if there are any like-minded alums from 1969 who also might attend. I still have not figured out the navigation tricks to features of this website, so not sure how to identify alums from those days who might be registered here. If you are faculty or alums from the first year of JC, please feel free to establish a dialogue with me, to "catch up!" If you are not from that year, you are welcome to email me, too!
Anybody know the whereabouts and whatabouts of Matt Stuart, Jim Lakehomer, John Taylor, Carol Conley, Tim McAfee, Nancy Greene, Toby Greene, Jan Hoffman, Bob Kendrick, Bruce Brown, Marylou Morelock, etc. etc. etc.?

Finding people from 1969 to 1973
David Rogers: I hope you found some of the people you were asking about. One of the people listed missing was Kristin Cooper. She is living outside of Boston and is fine. I went to one day of the reunion to see Ann Schecter and Mark Crouse who married each other. I talked to Marylou and Jan Hoffman. I would like to find Gail Campbell, Sharon Kourimiya (sp), and Millilani Trask. They are not listed as missing. Good luck. Pamela Cortelyou
Honoring Miliani Trask, Molly Doty, and Libby Boff
Lyle Hymer-Thompson has given his annual donation to "the cause" in honor of three undergraduate women who hired him as the first Johnston College Dean of Student Life and art instructor: Miliani Trask, Molly Doty, and Libby Boff. Thank you, Lyle. If others would like to give in honor of friends, colleagues, mentors, or other influential people, I will be happy to post those notices here.
Mililani Trask
Is she in communication with the Center? Whats up with her?
I know she was active in the Hawaiian Sovereignity movement, Thats exciting!
Pursuing the Johnston community throughout the internet
These are people involved in getting work, on their first jobs in production environments or level 1 or 2 responsibilities. They are actors in their firms or in their communities, building social environments and creating value. Generally they have little time and money but do have energy to spare.
These are people that are experts or in managerial positions. They are often in strategic positions dealing at policy (political?) levels in their professional, social or personal environments.

Response to P. Landa
Very interesting. I hope I see more of the Johnston spirit on-line. I think with the little looking I have done of the blogs, that most likely our diversity somewhat hinders us seeing much of each other on-line. But I may be wrong. I am glad Bill sent out the monkey survey; at least it got me back to Johnston Center on-line to look a bit. It is very scattered though. Pamela Cortelyou 69-73
Pascal Landa's Virtual Community Proposal
Hi Pascal: I never had the honor of contracting with you a full class-
but certainly set in some amazing ones! I will pass this around to folks
from '75-79. I know JC (U of R) has lost track of a many.
Am very interested in a dialogue about Personal Development. YR
quote "acknowledging our death means living better" is very much
what I am reading and think about.
